Ivana Savic, our Policy Director participated in the Leadership Meeting, that was a two-day event which facilitated participatory discussions among a broad range of stakeholders.

During the first day, the focus was on reviewing the results of the first phase of the consultation and the latest thinking on environmental sustainability in the post-2015 agenda (building on Rio+20 outcomes and learning from the MDGs) to identify key areas of consensus and divergence.

Along the panel discussion, breakout sessions were organised on the following topics:

-Framing/Achievements of the MDGs

-Content of the MDGs

-Challenges and gaps of the MDGs

Ivana was a rapporteur for the working group on the Substance of the MDG/MDG7.

The second day aimed at moving towards developing a framework that defines an integrated approach to frame environmental sustainability in the post-2015 agenda as well as key issues where further dialogue and thinking is needed.

The working groups were:

– Protecting global commons while respecting national development

– Country typoligies

-Building from the Local Level

-Governance, human rights, peace and security
It is important to mention that the output was determined by participants representing the voices of a series of constituencies.
Also that it is particularly encouraging to see that the human rights, access to justice and inter-generational equity and equality are greatly emphasized in the outcomes of the meeting.
Stay tuned for the detailed report coming soon!!!
